yo amo mis amigos!

"A friend is a second self." -Aristotle

I got this email from my friend Abraham...its in spanish, but it says it all. I love you all, I would die for some of you. And I thank you for everything you have given me.

......... ;)

¿ Qué harías si amaras a alguien y no pudieras tenerlo?

*random oozy emotions*

"After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, and you learn that love doesn't mean leaning and company doesn't mean security, and you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises, and you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child. and you learn to build all your roads on today, because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans. after a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much. so plant your own garden, and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. and you learn that you really can endure.. that you really are strong, and you really do have worth."

"Since there is no help, come let us kiss and part;
Nay, I have done, you get no more of me,
And I am glad, yea, glad with all my heart
That thus so cleanly I myself can free;
Shake hands forever, cancel all our vows,
And when we meet at any time again,
Be it not seen in either of our brows
That we one jot of former love retain.
Now at the last gasp of love's latest breath,
When, his pulse failing,
Passion speechless lies,
When Faith is kneeling by his bed of death,
And Innocence is closing up his eyes,
Now if thou wouldst, when all have given him over,
From death to life thou mightst him yet recover."

...dunno who

don't worry! i'm really really happy! :D *Oye* Sometimes reading stuff makes you think.

Once upon a time...

O my goodness...there was a time. There was a time when I was fascinated by our solar system, by the wonderful 9 planets that made it up. I would always marvel at how far away Pluto always was, and how icy and cold it would be. I was also only recently, like one year ago, astonished at discovering that Pluto has a moon called Charon! I mean, such a tiny planet could have a moon! That some scientists actually considered it a binary planetary system...in our own solar system! And I further delved myself into it and found out that NASA had designed an exploration called New Horizons that would advance to study Pluto, Charon, and the outer Kuiper Belt at the edge of our solar system. And New Horizons would actually carry a CD that could be electronically signed by people all over the world ...the pleasure of your name reaching the edge of our solar system. Me being the huge nerd that I am signed my name, and the names of everyone in my family, including a few best friends. :) It was the coolest experience to see the New Horizons spacecraft take off on January 19, 2006. The craft will go past Jupiter and its moons, so they'll get to study it too, and will reach Pluto in July of 2015! *WICKED*

What I don't get...is WHY on planet earth do humans have the tendency to cram a bunch of old men into tiny rooms with no windows, those with porous brains who have no sense because they've reached the pinnacle of 'senility,' and thereby seethe incompetence in upholding the good, not as immediately important but controversial, and well defined things in life and thereby destroy centuries of good old icy PLANETS! Pluto does not violate the size issue, rather is not considered a planet anymore because it dips into Neptune's orbit.

Why o why can't people put a bunch of old people into tiny rooms with no windows, those with porous brains, and hand them the other gazillions of crisis that are plaguing our world?...well, that is kind of what we're currently doing. We present these gorgeous professionals of aging with the problems of our world, such as pandemics like HIV, hunger and starvation due to poverty, global warming etc. and instead of attempting to solve them they decide to begin BLOWING STUFF UP!!!!! And make everything even worse...o what's that? Yea..worse...more hunger and starvation+mutilation, more terrorism on global warming..as in all the shit that the atmosphere's being exposed to as a result of rich people buying a million Hummers, and poor people being exposed to the gases bombs release, and did i mention that blowing up stuff can possibly release dormant pathogens into the environment and cause even more pandemics? Instead of resolving such problems, these dumb old people decide to go to war, and vanquish innocent planets that have nothing to do with earth, but everything to do with the definition and omnipotence of our solar system.

So can we PLEASE stop cramming old people into windowless rooms?! Can we PLEASE start taking a stand?!

By 'we' I mean...OUR GENERATION! a.k.a. those who have functional neurons!!!!!!!

Once upon a time, Pluto was a planet. It isn't anymore.

*confucius*

Dr. Essani quotes: (immunology prof)
'If you're really interested in something there's no way you can fail in it.'
'Immunoglobulins are the same thing as antibodies...except that immunoglobulins are sexy.'
'None of us are dumb, none of us are geniuses, we're all equal. It depends on how much you want to learn'
'You can learn wisdom from fools.'
'If someone sneezes don't say Bless You! Say COVER YOUR MOUTH!' *haha*
'Scientists are terminally differentiated.'

Apart from all this gorgeous philosophy...I think I'm in love...again! Holy crap. SOMEONE SLAP ME!

Dorfus Chickenfrack

Peoples of the World!!!

The semester has officially begun. And the following are ALL the marvelous things I will accomplish over the course of next three months!

Coursework: Immunology (for which I am MOST excited!), Medicinal Chemistry (2nd most exciting), Physical Chemistry (of which I'm most worried...correction..HORRIFIED!), Life and Culture of Spain (in which I will happily put my feet up and enjoy), Political Science (in which I will simply enjoy my friends), and an honors class called Health Care Ethics (for which currently only 4 people including myself are registered!).

Also...mmm..my 'commitment to research.'
My med school app...BY THIS WEEKEND I SWEAR! :)
O! and TAing for BIOS 1100.

I've only had barely a week to enjoy, of which I spent 4 days at the lab 'experimenting to failure.' But I had three GORGEOUSLY SPECTACULAR days with my family! We went beaching! And I for the first time in me life saw a full sunset! It was AMAZING! I did wonder though why the sun changes shape as it sets..is it because of how the light rays are diffracted through various 'concentrations' of the atmosphere caused by the curve of earth? (I know..thats a mouthful :) )

I've been LOVING the rain/sun fluctuations lately..its been INCREDIBLE to lie in my back yard reading "A Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" with the sun shining down on me..while at the same time I've LOVED going to bed listening to the pitter patter of raindrops on my window and porch roof. I think rain invigorates me! It's so refreshing after a good rainfall..dad says is because the dust settles. True?

Anywho..sorry for the delay in updates...now..back to a semester sizzling/pouring with hot dudes and thereby hot crushes! :D
